Youth Advisory Committee

Kiama High School Youth Advisory Committee with Kiama Mayor Mark Honey.

The Kiama Youth Advisory Committee meets bi-monthly at Kiama High School.

The Committee is made up of Student Representative Council members, Kiama Councillors, and some Kiama Council staff.

Its objective is to ensure young people have a voice within Council and their community.

The meetings also allow Council and our SENTRAL team to get information and advice from young people on matters important to them.

These include feedback on the effectiveness of new policies, programs and services targeted towards young people.

Young people who participate learn skills in:

  • advocacy
  • meeting etiquette
  • governance.

They also help to create a community they want to live in by having their say on:

  • community safety
  • infrastructure
  • social planning.
